Formula / Calculation Method

EMI = P × r / (1 − (1 + r)^−n). At zero interest, EMI = P / n.

Example Calculation

Understanding the Result

Choose months or years. Interest is nominal annual interest divided by 12; payments are at period end.

What is the EMI Calculator?

Calculate equal monthly installments over a loan term.

How to Use

Enter the loan principal, nominal annual rate and term. Select months for a term such as 36 installments, or years for a term such as three years.

Select Calculate after entering your values. Text tools update as you type. Reset restores the starting fields.

Interpreting the Calculation

The EMI is a regular monthly installment. Total interest is the sum of interest across the schedule, not the annual rate multiplied by the initial principal for the entire term.

Common Questions

Does EMI include loan processing fees?
