Formula / Calculation Method
Metric liters = kilometers × L/100 km / 100. US gallons = miles / US mpg.
Example Calculation
100 km at 8 L/100 km uses 8 liters; at 2 per liter it costs 16.
Understanding the Result
Metric, US and imperial gallon systems are distinct. Enter fuel price per unit shown; estimates exclude detours and idling.
What is the Fuel Cost Calculator?
Estimate fuel use and trip cost in compatible units.
How to Use
Choose metric, US or imperial units before entering distance, efficiency and fuel price. Read the selected units beside the control.
Select Calculate after entering your values. Text tools update as you type. Reset restores the starting fields.
Interpreting the Calculation
Metric efficiency is fuel consumed per distance, so lower values mean better economy. Miles per gallon is distance per fuel, so higher values mean better economy. Changing the system does not convert existing entries.
Common Questions
Are US gallons and imperial gallons interchangeable?
No. They have different volumes. Keep the mpg rating and fuel price in the same selected gallon system.
What assumptions does this tool use?
Metric, US and imperial gallon systems are distinct. Enter fuel price per unit shown; estimates exclude detours and idling.
